Galvanising a community to save water

• While accustomed to living with seasonal extremes, in mid 2008 the Shire of Cloncurry, in western Queensland, Australia, was experiencing severe drought conditions to an extent they were literally running out of water.
• Our client was engaged by the State Government (following acceptance of a proposal prepared by SANDBOX) to deliver a water retrofit and education program targeting businesses and residents. SANDBOX project managed the development and implementation of the Cloncurry Waterwise Service.
• The water demand management program achieved a program uptake of 85% residences and 88% for businesses. In 2010 this project was awarded Best Nonprofit/Social Marketing in Practice Paper at the International Nonprofit & Social Marketing Conference.
